For the February 9 Social Justice event in Joshua, we are asked to bring a dish to share for lunch.
History of this event:
Over 25 years ago, after the ratification of the Charter for Racial Justice the Central TX conference UMW held “The Sing-a-Rainbow” event where different ethnic groups shared their music, some in native costume. In 2013, there will be music as well as a focus on families and how UMW can help with the issues of poverty, hunger and other issues arise that challenge families. If there are social or racial justice issues that might keep families of all races in poverty, we want to be aware of that and see how we can help.
Speakers include Josephine Lopez Paul with Allied Communities of Tarrant and Willie Bennett from a sister agency, Dallas Area Interfaith who will tell of their activities. UMW will discuss multiplying its effort by partnering with other agencies.
