Mission Evolving Thorough Radical Outreach
Shirley Pleasant, President
The United Methodist Women of the North Texas Conference Metro District are excited about our mission journey together for 2014 as we continue to turn faith, hope and love into action on behalf of women, youth and children. We are currently engaged in mission, education, and leadership development on a continuing basis throughout the Metro District in addition to our commitment to social justice through our mission giving.
Theme and Focus: 1 Corinthians 12:17-20
If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body.
The best teams do not have people with similar skills – they combine the diverse talents and backgrounds from a pool of diverse individuals and appreciate the gifts that each one brings to contribute. Great teams have people that know their role and appreciate others as well.
OUR DISTRICT PROJECT:
"Project Patricia" What does "Project Patricia" do? This ministry serves women in Africa by meeting a basic physical need. It makes cloth, reusable maxi-pads and sends them with Missionaries to be distributed to the women and girls, in rural areas, who are of menstruating age. They are easy and low cost to make, especially with a group of women working together. And you know you will have fun doing it together! This is a simple project to make a real difference to an overwhelming challenge for these women and girls.
